LTO IT Projects
A marked improvement in the processing of transactions now
benefits NCR clients of the LTO. Almost all NCR
District
Offices (except Taguig and Navotas) are currently using
computerized systems. Within the month of
January, 2002, same systems shall be rolled-out to Regions III and IV.
Drug Testing Program
We now have 381 drug testing laboratories nationwide. Through
these facilities, it is hoped that we will be able to
curb alcohol or
drug related vehicle accidents.
Anti-Smoke Belching Campaign
Eleven thousand seven hundred forty four (11,744)
apprehensions are now recorded and meted corresponding
penalties since the
start of the program. A tie-up with ABS-CBN Foundation's
Bantay Usok has just been
finalized.
Concerned citizens can now report smoke belchers to ABS-CBN
hotlines for proper monitoring by the
LTO and enforce the
effective banning of these units from the streets.
Seatbelt Use Act
RA 8750 requires mandatory compliance by motorist of all types
of vehicles to use seatbelt devices. Nationwide
intensive campaign
against violators of this Act yielded 83,158 apprehensions as
of Dec. 31, 2001.
Drivers Training Program
A continuing program by the office with an aim to develop
drivers with the proper skills and behavior in driving.
This is being conducted
in coordination with TCCDA and the Civil Service Commission
(CSC). Seminars are
conducted at the LTO
Central Office. Seminar fee is P1,500 per participant.
